It is ideally suited for hot/dusty work settings that require long periods of wear. If you have a 3M Particulate Respirator 8511 N95 and are concerned about the valve in connection with source control, then you can cover the interior valve hole with size 1.88 inch 3M Multi Use Duct Tape. This tape is a NIOSH-approved accessory for the model 8511 respirator. Your 3M 8511 respirator will retain its NIOSH N95 certification status as long as this tape is applied properly according to the User Instructions.
